Ferris Bueller was right: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." And so was John Lennon: "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."
My son had surgery on his broken wrist last week. He's doing great, and he's home with me this week with a huge pile of make-up work from school. My husband had a birthday on Sunday, and we'll continue celebrating with a trip to the state fair and his favorite store (Dallas Mustang) this weekend. Between birthday-ing and playing school, it took me a while before I finally noticed that another month of survival has passed.
Not only that, but another YEAR has passed since my husband's birthday in 2006, when I received the unfortunately-timed news about tumor progression and had to begin experimental chemotherapy. That was the last time I'd received such a report, and I'm hoping it will continue to be the last time. (Especially since my next MRI is in two weeks.)

Congrats! What is the experimental treatment you've been on since then? (The scientist me is curious...)

My sister in law just emailed me your blog info and I've been reading it much of today from the beginning. Wow, what an experience you've had and, oh, how much of it rings true for me too.
I'm also LDS, yet live in Japan, and am currently on chemotherapy after having 2 major surgeries and radiation therapy. There are only 4 other currently active member families in our city here and I have to say I really admire all they've pulled off to help us with as a whole. I am so grateful! They literally helped save my life last June, 09.
I just want you to know I'm rooting for you and would love to somehow share a little more of our experience here by email, if there is a way to, if you have time to. I think this comment area allows future posts to be directed to my in-box. So when you read this, if contacting you would be possible, I would love to hear back from you. We have 5 little kids under age 11 that my husband's family is caring for. They had to be evacuated out of the country back in June. Bless you! I LOVE your blog and pray for you daily.
