Deja vu all over again?

MRI results today show a definite lump in my spine. No evidence of the blood vessel problems that we were hoping to find.

Spinal tap did not reveal tumor cells, but did reveal high protein levels, which could indicate either blood or tumor. It is possible that there are tumor cells sticking to the wall of the spine instead of floating in the spinal fluid. We just don't know yet, but it seems that we are ruling out other possibilities, leaving the scale tipping in the direction of glioblastoma in the spine.

I meet next Thursday with my neurosurgeon to discuss surgery in order to get more information. "We need a piece of this," Dr. Fink said, as she reviewed the images with me.

And then it seemed like deja vu: mystery symptoms and a series of tests before we finally land on something that sends me to the neurosurgeon. I can still remember his somber face nearly five years ago, as he told me that I had glioblastoma in my brain.

There may still be hope for an alternate outcome. We have to keep waiting and praying and remembering that the Lord knows what is best for me and for my family. We can't just assume that we know for ourselves. I can only pray that His will be done, and trust in it completely.

I stumbled on your site while researching for my cousin whom was diagnosed with GBM in his brain, about 5 months ago. He has finished all his course of treatments, and came through his inititial complete resection with flying colors and just last week began again with headaches and blurred vision. He underwent another surgery on Mon and is just not recovering.

He is a Christian as well as I am and all my family. His family has not come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. Your blog was a GodSend. I found myself just giving into the inevitable instead of praying for the impossible that God does if it be His will.

Thank you for faithfully posting your journey. I will begin to pray immediately after finishing this post.

Dear Krista, I used to think that "brave" meant one had to do something heroic or face great danger like a soldier in battle. But, lately I've come to realize that being brave can also mean choosing to face fear with faith. Thank you for sharing your experiences and showing us that we can all face our fears with faith.

Oh Krista.

This waiting-thing is hard. There is so much to find out before we can prepare Team Krista and support you in your battle. I am ready to strap on armor. RIGHT NOW!!!!! Just show me the Glio Bully and I'll start taking some swings at him for you!

While in the mood to go beat someone up for you, I am trying to pray. It's not my most spiritual moment --- And I am being pretty demanding of God. But I like knowing that he is aware of you and your health and your family.

Now ... Let me go hit someone for ya ...
